Accordingly, Japan Inc. Holdings is an investment, advisory, and consulting business that specializes in buying into and managing creative and information-oriented companies. However, as an off-shoot of its basic skills, the company also operates a market entry and M&A practice.

Japan Inc. Communications was the original publishing company set up to execute Lloyd's interests in mass media. The company's predecessor started Japan's first English-language computer business magazine, called Computing Japan, in June of 1994, and this publication has since evolved into a more business-oriented title now named Japan Inc. Japan Inc. Communications is owned by Japan Inc. Holdings.

Metroplis KK was acquired by Japan Inc. Holdings in 2007, and is the owner and publisher of the most widely read English-language magazine in Japan, Metropolis. Metropolis is a weekly life-style and entertainment listings magazine that services the foreign community living in the Tokyo-Yokohama area. Metropolis KK also owns a second publication, the Kansai Scene, which services foreign readers in the Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto region.
